Course Development
- STAT 420, Illinois, Statistical Modeling in R
- Developed fully-online and asynchronous course as a part of the first cohort of courses for the Master of Computer Science in Data Science program administered via Coursera. Despite being a purely elective course in the program, the course continues to be among the most popular and highest rated. Materials from this course, especially the self-produced videos, are used by the Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning (CITL) as examples of effective teaching.
- Course Textbook: https://book.stat420.org
- STAT 432, Illinois, Basics of Statistical Learning.
- Proposed and developed an undergraduate level machine learning course for statistics majors to fill an existing gap in the curriculum. Oversaw the growth of the course from a small pilot of approximately 70 students, to its current status as one of the most popular statistics electives serving nearly 200 students a semester. Developed an auto-grading system to help scale the course, while still allowing for multiple human-graded projects each semester.
- Example Course Website: https://stat432.org/
- STAT 4194, Ohio State, Data Analytics Capstone
- Developed statistics capstone course for the Data Analytics major at Ohio State, a project-based course that included working with an industry partner where students had an opportunity to deliver actionable insights and were tasked with presenting results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- STAT 510, Illinois, Mathematical Statistics
- Developed fully online and asynchronous version of existing graduate-level mathematical statistics course. Also proposed curriculum revisions as the course was transitioning to a course specifically designed for MS students.
- Example Course Website: https://stat510.org/
- STAT 385, Illinois, Statistical Programming Methods
- Revamped existing course to better fit within the larger curriculum. Pivoted focus to fundamental programming concepts so there would be less overlap with data analysis programming tasks that are repeatedly seen in other courses throughout the curriculum. Additionally, implemented auto-graded for the majority of the assignments to help scale the course.
